On a snowy day this past winter I decided I
missed England and wanted to go to a proper tea. However, it’s much harder to
find traditional tea in D.C. than I thought it would be. But after some intense
googling I found that the Tea Cellar in the Park Hyatt in Georgetown has a
wonderful selection of tea in a beautiful environment.
We trudged through the snow and were met by
a sumptuous lobby and one of the most extensive tea menus I have ever seen. The
teas ranged in price from ten dollars to 130 dollars for the more exotic
variety.
I ordered a wonderful lavender black tea and my friends got an oolong and a lapsang souchong. Not to be deterred by the fact this was not a traditional afternoon tea locale, we asked if they had any baked goods to accompany our tea. Our lovely waiter said unfortunately no but I can get you all some cinnamon buns from one of our buffets. The service there was absolutely impeccable and if you are ever in the city looking for a place to catch up with friends or watch the world pass you by then tea at the
Tea Cellar in Washington DC is the place you want to check out.
Let me know what your favorite tea spot is.
